A Gilmore Girls Marathon

Updated: Aug 22, 2020

On November 26th, 2016, Netflix released Gilmore Girls: A Year in A Life. I loved Gilmore Girls in high school and college. I own all the seasons on DVD and watch them frequently.

I was so excited to have the day after Thanksgiving off work so that I could binge the new limited series on Netflix. I just had to get into the Gilmore Girls mindset! I made a prediction sheet for my husband and my sister to fill out before we started. A Gilmore Girl unspoken rule is, you can't watch a movie without junk food, so I had to follow suit.

I found some stickers off of Red Bubble.com, so I can make to-go bags from Luke's and Al's Pancake World. I even made a grocery bag to be from Doose's Market! Then, of course, I had to get Red Vines, Cheetos, Chocolate Donuts, Marshmallows, Doritos, and Pop-Tarts! I had to throw in the carrots and an apple because we have to be concerned that we aren't "eating well at school."

We did pause for lunch. Like Lorelei, I like stale Chinese too. But since the day before was Thanksgiving, we did have to get fresh Chinese. I wore a Dragonfly Inn shirt and drank out of Luke's mug that I purchased at Warner Brothers Studio Store a few years prior. I asked my husband to be my Luke for the day with a plaid shirt and a backward hat. See our fun photos below.

Did you notice my no cell phone sign? It ended up being a fun day, even with some tears toward the end. I, unfortunately, wasn't pleased with how it ended. I prefer the ending to the original TV series ending. I bet your creativity can come up with something similar for your next binge-watching day to help elevate the experience!
